Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the armed forces.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, at various times, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply call 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

once they have obtained money, no longer make themselves visible.
