Gaver Avalanche Rescue Training Demands Urgent Debris Clearance

A recent avalanche rescue training took place in Gaver, involving 18 rescuers supervised by four regional CNSAS instructors. The exercises focused on avalanche area approach, buried victim search, and transport techniques using toboggans and snow stretchers, including rope recovery methods.

During the training, a small avalanche occurred at a distance from the test site, prompting an immediate response and full activation of rescue operations. Such drills are routine for CNSAS technicians, who often respond to real emergencies in rapidly changing environmental conditions.
