Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area to Trick Locals

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans , and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Comune’s fire department.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
