Scammers Impersonate Police for Garda Area Phone Calls, Warns Authorities

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the Carabinieri — just call 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
