Garda Scam Alert: How to Recognize False Police and Authority Calls

They pose as Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to the army‘s magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, firefighters, or the Municipality‘s traffic wardens.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

So, be alert and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,

if they have taken money, will no longer appear.
