Garda Scammers Posing as Police Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to the army‘s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,

once they have taken money, no longer make themselves visible.
