Garda Fraud Alert: Scammers Pose as Police to Target Local Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda region, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Comune police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
