Scammers Impersonate Police to Pitch Fake Magazine Subscriptions in Garda

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda area, offering subscriptions to police force magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or Comune police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they had money, would no longer make themselves visible.
