Scammers Fake Carabinieri to Trick Hoteliers and Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police force, fire brigade, or the Comune (Municipal) police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

has obtained your money, and then disappears.
