Scammers Pose as Authorities in Garda Region, Warns Police

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda region, offering magazine subscriptions from the arma.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, police, fire brigade, or the municipal Vigili.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement authorities.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they have taken money, disappear and are no longer visible.
