Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Businesses in Garda Areas

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to the army‘s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipality‘s enforcement.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

if they had money, would no longer appear.
