Garda Area Fraud Alert: Carabinieri imposters targeting businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when making telephone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to police magazines.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately inform the Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

if they have taken money, disappears and is no longer visible.
