Scammers Pose as Authorities in Garda Region to Trick Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda region, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to non-existent magazines or ones that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

having taken money, no longer shows up.
