Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area Calls

They impersonate Carabinieri when making telephone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or the Comune (Municipal Government).

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they had money, would no longer make themselves visible.
