Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions
They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to the force’s magazines.
These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Comune’s police.
How to recognize scams
They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
having obtained money, will no longer show up.
