Fraudsters Impersonate Police to Scam Garda Hoteliers and Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to the force’s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, police, fire brigades, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the authorities.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
