Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area to Target Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering magazine subscriptions from the force.

They are not members of the military but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Comune police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,
