Scammers Pretending to Be Police Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to the Arma’s magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, general police, fire brigade, or the Comune’s police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri—simply dial 112— as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

after obtaining money, no longer appears.
