Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda Area Fraud Schemes

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to military magazines of the carabinieri.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, at various times, claim to belong to the finance police, law enforcement, fire brigade, or the Comune police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

having obtained money, no longer shows up.
