Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Area Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the arm‘s magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Comune‘s firefighters.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
