Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Area Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when telephoning hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the force’s magazines.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize the scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately report to the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by those who,
