Gardesana Crash Sparks New Debate Over Garda Bike Path Projects

A recent incident involving a road surface rise near the Garda Cycle Path has reignited concerns over construction work on the Garda Cycle Route between Malcesine and Torbole. Senator Aurora Floridia (Greens and Left) highlighted that injections of concrete beneath the roadway, intended to support the cycle bridge, may be linked to the elevation at the entrance of the first tunnel.

Floridia criticized the area—designated as a special protection zone for its geological and landscape fragility—for recent interventions, including demolition of historic walls and additional loads, carried out without proper oversight. She emphasized the need to ensure safety and preserve the territory amid ongoing construction concerns.
