Lombardy Allocates 105 Million Euros to Modernize Eco-Friendly Bus Fleet
Lombardia’s regional government has approved a €105.8 million fund to renew and expand the local bus fleet, focusing on eco-friendly vehicles and improved public transport safety from 2024 to 2028. The funding, allocated under the National Strategic Plan for Sustainable Mobility in collaboration with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, aims to reduce emissions and modernize bus depots across six regional areas.
Of the total, €63.5 million is designated for 2026 operations, with an additional €42.3 million allocated for 2027-2028. The initiative is expected to facilitate the deployment of approximately 1,100 low-impact buses by the end of the year, supporting environmental and safety upgrades in Lombardy’s public transportation network.
