Tremosine’s Forra Road Set to Reopen Camino Tunnel by March
The Strada della Forra (SP 38) connecting Gardesana to Tremosine is nearing the completion of safety improvements following the December 16 landslide at the Camino tunnel. The Brescia Province announced that the final phase of consolidation work inside the tunnel will be completed by March 13, allowing for reopening as scheduled.
Work initiated on February 2 includes reinforcing the tunnel vault with cement and steel bracing, installing anchoring ties at the north entrance, and adding protective barriers beyond the bridge. Currently under 24-hour monitoring, the road remains closed for safety, with a detour of approximately 20 kilometers via Tignale or SP 115 until the reopening, which will restore direct access to Tremosine.
