Riva del Garda Celebrates Official Recognition of Lake Garda’s Rights
A press conference on “The Rights of Lake Garda” drew significant attendance Saturday at Riva’s Rocca, where the first Italian bill recognizing Lake Garda’s legal subjectivity and rights as a natural entity was presented. Participants included Senator Aurora Floridia, Isabella D’Isola of the Federation for Rights Recognition, Ivan De Beni of Federalberghi, and representatives from local institutions and civil society.
Floridia emphasized the need for effective tools to protect the natural capital, addressing issues like mobility and overtourism. D’Isola called for social mobilization supporting Lake Garda’s recognition as a legal subject, while De Beni highlighted sector support through initiatives like “I am Lake Garda.” Calls were made to expedite legislative review before the end of the current parliamentary term.
