Brescia Legal Education Initiative Highlights Poor Conditions at Mombello Prison
A conference titled “Nessuno è perduto” will be held on Monday at 2:30 PM in the Fermi High School auditorium as part of the Insula legal education project. Don Stefano Fontana, chaplain of Brescia’s Nerio Fischione prison since 2022, will discuss the realities of Italian prisons. The event is open to students and the public.
In a recent interview, Fontana highlighted overcrowding and poor conditions at Canton Mombello prison, citing chronic staffing shortages and comparing the situation to an understaffed emergency room. These issues will be addressed during the conference.
