ASST of Garda Launches Free Kidney Screenings for World Kidney Day 2026 in Desenzano

On March 12, ASST del Garda will hold a free kidney screening at Leone Shopping Center to mark World Kidney Day 2026. The event, organized by the Nephrology and Dialysis Unit, will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and include blood pressure measurements, urine tests, brief personalized nephrological assessments, and vaccination counseling. Participants identified as at risk will be referred for further specialist evaluation.

The initiative aims to raise awareness of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), which affects one in ten people. Local officials, including Mayor Roberto Tardani and center director Angela Berto, expressed support and provided space for the event. The Italian Kidney Foundation and the Italian Society of Nephrology emphasized eight key rules for kidney health, such as staying active, managing blood sugar and pressure, maintaining a balanced diet, and avoiding smoking.
