Twelve Lombard Municipalities Honored in Rome for Plastic-Free Initiative
Twelve Lombard municipalities received the “Comune Plastic Free” award at the fifth edition ceremony in Rome’s Teatro Olimpico, organized by Plastic Free Onlus. Notable recipients include Bergamo, San Felice del Benaco, and Milan, among others, for their efforts in reducing plastic waste.
San Felice del Benaco was recognized for banning single-use plastics at events, installing water dispensers, and organizing cleanup activities that recovered over 1,000 kg of waste in a year. Regional Plastic Free Lombardia highlighted successful initiatives, with Raul Rocher honored for organizing the most clean-up events in Italy in 2025; nationally, 141 municipalities were awarded, collectively removing over 5 million kilograms of plastic and waste.
