Salò Conference Highlights Crisis of Garda’s Dignity and Water Protection Challenges

The “In Search of Garda’s Lost Dignity” conference, organized by the Federation of Associations supporting the Chiese River and Lake Idro, will be held Saturday in Salò. The event will focus on the environmental health of Lake Garda, including issues of pollution, water management, and infrastructure projects, with a particular emphasis on concerns over the potential transfer of 40% of wastewater treatment to different basins, which organizers deem misleading.

The conference is open to the public and has invited 47 mayors, local officials, hotel associations, the Garda Community President, and the Prefect. Speakers will include architect Silvio Motta, known for his work on the Rhine River’s naturalization, and ecologist Carlo Saletta, who will provide scientific insights into the lake’s current water quality and potential solutions.
