Lonato del Garda Earns Special Recognition from Legambiente Lombardia for Achieving Over 80% Recycling Rate in 2024

Lonato del Garda achieved over 80% waste recycling in 2024, earning a special mention from Legambiente Lombardia as a “Comune Ricicloni” on January 22, 2026. The success is attributed to collaboration between Garda Uno, the municipality, and residents, supported by the door-to-door collection service launched in 2014.

The municipality operates two recycling centers in via Rassica and via Tellaroli, accepting up to 20 waste types with extended hours, and plans to add four new eco-islands and ten large containers through PNRR funding. Since 2021, the Restart food waste recovery project has collected over 6,268 kg of food. Local officials highlighted ongoing investments, environmental education, and waste management efforts.
