Former Sirmione Spa Employee Killed in Manerba Fortress Fall
A fatal fall occurred on the trail connecting the Rocca di Manerba cross to Punta Sasso, resulting in the death of Arturo Saxinger, a 72-year-old resident of Sirmione and retired employee of the Sirmione Thermal Baths. Saxinger, who was with his daughter, slipped on a particularly exposed section of the trail, falling approximately 15 meters into a wooded area below.
Emergency services responded immediately, including firefighters, alpine rescue teams, medical personnel via helicopter, and local Carabinieri for investigation. Despite prompt medical intervention, Saxinger succumbed to his injuries. The body was recovered and handed over to family and authorities.
