Salò Underwater Cleanup: Canoe Club Divers Launch Major Salvage Operation

A major underwater cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, April 18, at the Mauro Melzani port in Salò, involving dive teams from Apnea Club Brescia and volunteers under the management of Società Canottieri. The operation, running from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., aims to remove debris such as glass bottles, tires, and bicycles from the port’s waters. To ensure safety, navigation within the port will be restricted during the activity.

The port, built in 2004 and named after Mauro Melzani, hosts the Canottieri Garda club since 1891. It features 100 boat slips and 25 storage spaces for regatta vessels, serving as a hub for sailing, rowing courses, summer camps, and various events. Past ecological dives by Brescia divers have successfully recovered significant amounts of waste from the port.
