Preserve Desenzano Hospital: Committee Opposes New PLIS Development
The Coordination of the Committee “Manteniamo l’Ospedale di Desenzano sul Montecroce” has recently submitted five observations to the Municipality of Desenzano del Garda, supported by 444 signatures, challenging the plan for a new hospital at Montecroce within the PLIS as urbanistically and environmentally incompatible.
In its notes, the committee argues that using the categories “SPe (Hospitals)” and “SPd (Public housing)” would be an expedient to boost building capacity. It denounces greenfield land consumption, warns of fragmentation of ecological corridors, biodiversity loss, and increased traffic and pollution, and cites alleged urban-planning inconsistencies for project accessibility. The document requests the total removal of the forecast from the PLIS and proposes upgrading and making more efficient the current hospital site on Montecroce.
