Unregistered Real Estate Agents Busted in Verona for Illegal Mediation
The Verona Provincial Guardia di Finanza has concluded a two-year operation targeting abusive real estate mediation, identifying unlicensed agents operating in the lower Veronese area, notably in Legnago and Cerea. Investigations found mediators handling negotiations without the mandatory registration in the Register of Companies, yet guiding clients on viewings, collecting purchase offers, and drafting preliminary contracts.
Offenders face administrative fines from €7,500 to €15,000, reduced to €5,000 if paid within 60 days, with possible criminal charges under Article 348 of the Penal Code for repeated violations. The cases have been referred to the Verona Chamber of Commerce for further assessment, including challenging the right of unregistered agencies to seek commissions.
