Sirmione Recognizes Professionals for Saving a Life with AED and CPR

On April 27, the Sirmione City Council will award Giacomo Girardello and Emanuele Detommasi for a lifesaving intervention on April 13 at the municipal sports center run by US Rovizza, where they applied BLSD techniques and used an AED to save a person in cardiac arrest, with Mayor Luisa Lavelli formally recognizing the act.

The episode ties into a cardioprotection project launched in 2017 after a donation funded the first AED installation near the Castle. The network now includes 36 devices georeferenced in AREU control centers (8 in the historic center, 11 municipal, and 2 belonging to Sirmione Servizi). The initiative has involved sports associations, volunteering groups, the Consorzio Albergatori e Ristoratori, and the Local Police, which in 2025 trained 42 employees. US Rovizza, the Associazione Giovani, and the Associazione Artigiani have also organized courses and donated devices installed in Bremen and in the Colombare industrial area.
