ASST Garda Kicks Off World Vaccination Week 2026 in Portese

Portese, April 24, 2026 – ASST Garda officially inaugurated World Vaccination Week 2026 at the Port of Portese with the launch of Marco Polo 2.0 – a traveler’s handbook for international destinations. The initiative, under the theme “On the route of prevention, a journey without borders,” aims to promote a safer, more informed approach to travel.

Marco Polo 2.0 provides practical, up-to-date information on mandatory and recommended vaccines, prophylaxis, and health regulations for stays abroad, along with behavioral tips for extra-European destinations. The guide will be distributed free at ASST Garda vaccination centers for travelers seeking guidance, and a digital version will be available on the ASST website.

The launch kicked off a week-long program through late April at ASST Garda centers. On April 24, open vaccination clinics ran 8:30–12:30 in Leno, Montichiari, Desenzano, and Gargnano. On April 27, a migrant-focused session “One look to the other side of the World” offered HBV, HCV, and HIV screenings with hepatology and infectious disease consultations, paired with a school event “Look far away, save the future” addressing sexually transmitted infections and related vaccines (HPV, MenB-ACWY) and screening for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea. April 29 at Terme di Sirmione hosted “Salus in via preventionis” for chronically ill travelers. April 30, 8:30–12:30, reopen open clinics in Leno, Montichiari, Desenzano, Gavardo, Nozza, and celebrate the return of “Happy Vax Hour,” a prevention-themed aperitivo game returning after 24 years. ASST Garda invites residents and travelers to plan ahead with Marco Polo 2.0, underscoring vaccination as a key safeguard for individuals and communities.
