Roe Deer Rescued in Brescia After Overnight Surveillance and Firefighters’ Intervention

Last night around 3:00 AM, a roe deer was spotted in Brescia’s historic center. After the Carabinieri alerted the Provincial Police, officers located a young male deer in a recess on Via Elia Capriolo, in the Carmine district, and monitored it for more than three hours until rescue operations began around 7:00 AM with support from the Fire Department and coordination by ATS veterinarians.

Following the veterinarians’ guidance, the animal was not sedated. The rescue was carried out by the Provincial Police’s Fisheries and Hunting Unit, which loaded the deer onto a equipped vehicle, checked its health, and released it at a suitable location. Three patrols were involved. The unit also reported the recent discovery of two dead fawns and reminded that in May and June it is advisable not to touch fawns to avoid abandonment by the mother.
