Plastic Nest Found in Torbole at Garda Protection Conference
The discovery of a bird nest built from plastic filaments was made during a voluntary walk that framed Saturday’s conference, “Protect Garda Today, for a Better Future,” held in Torbole and organized by Plastic Free Onlus and Associazione Lacus with the sponsorship of the Autonomous Province of Trento and the Municipality of Nago-Torbole. The event centered on microplastics in aquatic ecosystems and their potential effects on human health.
Official speakers included Rosalba d’Aiello and Angela Bartoli, followed by Mayor Gianni Morandi outlining territorial projects and Luigi Del Prete presenting the Garda Sostenibile initiative. The scientific program featured Valentina Iannilli, Valeria Lencioni and Riccardo Sbarberi; Anna Baroni discussed the pollution-health link, and 1st Lieutenant Antonio Veneroso described protection and monitoring activities. At the end, participants collected about ten kilograms of waste during an ecological walk promoted by Plastic Free, with the plastic bird nest among the recovered items.
