Calcinato Opens Libera Università LUniCa for Lifelong Learning

Calcinato unveiled the Libera Università di Calcinato, LUniCa, on May 16, 2026, a cultural and educational initiative promoted by the municipal Culture Department to offer lifelong learning for all residents, regardless of age or prior education.

The first-year inauguration occurred at a conference titled “Ottant’anni di suffragio universale: le calcinatesi alle urne per la prima volta.” Attendees included Culture Councillor Laura Maffazioli, constitutional law professor Adriana Apostoli, and researcher-historian Marina Tonelli, who used the day to link historical reflection with the new open-to-all education project.

LUniCa will provide courses, meetings, laboratories and events across humanities, arts, sciences, medicine, languages, legal-economics and lab disciplines, plus excursions and socio-cultural activities to promote socialization and territorial valorization. The initiative is organized in collaboration with the Municipal Library and the Culture, Library and Equal Opportunities Commissions within the Comune di Calcinato’s Plan for the Right to Study. Enrollment opens in September at the Municipal Library for residents over 16, with membership also granting access to library services; assessor Laura Maffazioli emphasized LUniCa’s role in fostering social cohesion and intergenerational dialogue.
