Twister Sterilgarda Clinches 2026 Italian Dolphin81 Championship in Malcesine
Twister Sterilgarda, led by Flavio Bocchio with Mattia Polettini at the helm, won the 2026 Campionato Italiano Dolphin81, hosted by Fraglia Vela Malcesine as part of the MaxiDolphin Lake Garda Series. With 25 boats at the start, the title was decided in the eighth and final race on Sunday, where Back In Black (Francesco Anselmi) won, Marahute (Luca Bovolato) finished second, and Twister Sterilgarda placed third, a result that kept Polettini’s team in the lead and clinched the championship.
In the final standings, Marahute took second overall and Achab (Luca Nassini) third; Back In Black finished fourth and Ociesse (Gianni Giordo) fifth. In the Timonieri-Armatori ranking, Marahute topped Achab and Whisper (Andrea Taddei). The Under 25 prize went to I Zona (Matteo Bogliolo, Marta Saglietti, Giorgio Zorloni, Matteo Corno, Riccardo Finotello, Federico Bastini) ahead of XIV Zona; Ll’Amante (Stefano Giroli et al.) won the Scuole Vela Trophy. Throughout the event, Ugo Colosio conducted measurement checks and races were officiated on the water.
