Arco Honors Martyrs of June 28, 1944, Renames Pertini Courtyard
Communities from Arco, Nago-Torbole and Riva del Garda will gather on Sunday, 28 June 2026 in Arco for a solemn commemoration of the Martyrs of 28 June 1944, remembering the victims of a massacre carried out by Nazi-fascist forces in the Upper Garda area and Trentino. The ceremony will take place in the “Corte Sandro Pertini” at the Arco town hall, combining institutional moments with a tribute to Sandro Pertini.
The event is scheduled to start at 10:45, with honors at the Martyrs’ stele at 11:00, followed by a remembrance of the martyrs and the Resistance led by Giuseppe Ferrandi, director of the Fondazione Museo Storico del Trentino. The programme also includes performances by musicians Omar Morandi and Albino Zanoni, and readings by Evoè Teatro di Rovereto. At 11:30, the inner courtyard of the Arco town hall will be named in memory of Sandro Pertini (1896-1990), following the tribute to the 28 June martyrs.
