Two Young People Rescued in Lake Garda After Boat Found Drifting Off Toscolano Maderno
Two young people were rescued after a drifting small boat was found on Lake Garda, following an emergency call received via 112 at 19:10. The Coast Guard’s operations room activated the search-and-rescue response, dispatching the GC A58 from Salò and requesting support from the Fire Brigade’s boat in Bardolino, the 118 helicopter, and a Fire Brigade helicopter, with divers also alerted.
The vessel was located in the lake’s central area along the route between Toscolano Maderno and Torri del Benaco. Searches ended at 20:15 when the GC A58 crew spotted the two youths in the water about 1.5 miles from the last known position; a Coast Guard rescuer jumped in to reach a girl in evident difficulty. Both were recovered and handed over to 118 medical personnel for treatment.
