Brescia Unveils New Main & Children Hospital in €274 Million Investment

Brescia has unveiled plans for a new “Main & Children Hospital” that will combine clinical and technological services with scientific research and university training under a One Health model. The project was presented at the Teatro Grande in Brescia in the presence of regional officials including President Attilio Fontana and councilor Guido Bertolaso, alongside other local representatives and the hospital’s general director Luigi Cajazzo.

The design has been entrusted to Park Associati, CRA Carlo Ratti Associati and Politecnica Building for Humans, with technical partners including Openfabric, Dotdotdot, Eckersley O’Callaghan and Studio Mattioli. The tender was managed by ARIA S.p.A.; construction is scheduled to start in 2028, with a planned investment of €274 million supported by additional funding from Lombardy Region.

The hospital campus will be organized into a Main Hospital, a Children Hospital and a CareRing, covering 60,500 square meters and offering more than 745 beds. The plan also includes repurposing historic pavilions for academic and research functions, a structural link with the University of Brescia’s Faculty of Medicine, and a low-environmental-impact approach using hybrid wood-and-steel elements, dry assembly and modular design for future reconfiguration.
