Tourism’s Role in Local History Spotlighted in New Volume Presented in Riva del Garda
Tourism in the Alto Garda area was the focus of the presentation of the book *“Alto Garda. Dove il Turismo ha una Storia”* by Enzo Bassetti, held on Monday, 6 July at the Congress Centre in Riva del Garda to mark the APT centenary.
The event, promoted by Garda Trentino Sviluppo S.p.a. with Garda Dolomiti Azienda per il Turismo S.p.A., featured Trento’s provincial tourism councillor Roberto Failoni and APT president Silvio Rigatti, along with representatives from local administrations and industry associations. The volume traces two centuries of tourism, from early hospitality around the ports of Riva and Torbole to Arco’s winter vocation, covering the period of the Great War, the decline of aristocratic tourism, the era of sanatoria, and the post-war revival. Bassetti compiled period posters, photographs, postcards and documents, with part of the material set to enter the Alto Garda Museum. The book is available at the APT in Riva del Garda while supplies last; the celebrations continue with a MAG exhibition on historical author tourism posters until 18 October and a discussion on the future of tourism in November.
