Trentino Provincial Junta Approves Purchase of Casa della Trota for the Garda Cycle Route

The Trentino provincial executive, on a proposal by President Maurizio Fugatti, has authorized the acquisition of the “Casa della Trota” complex at the mouth of the Ponale stream on the western bank. The €2.3 million operation is intended to support environmental and landscape redevelopment linked to the construction of the Ciclovia del Garda.

The decision allows the cycling route to be adjusted by avoiding an initially planned tunnel section. A new lakeside stretch of about 300 meters will be built between the Orione tunnel–Ponale mouth (UF 2) and the Titani tunnel–Aurora tunnel (UF 3.4.1), with works on this segment starting next October after the tourist season. The plan also includes restoring the original 18th-century building by demolishing later structures, cleaning the cliff face, and removing ruins to re-establish the historic footpath connecting the lake to the old Ponale route.
