Desenzano del Garda Highlights Goletta dei Laghi Findings as Water Quality Debate Heats Up
A public meeting in Desenzano del Garda will present the findings of Legambiente’s “Goletta dei Laghi” monitoring campaign and address the state of lake water quality and biodiversity on Wednesday, 16 July at 5:30 pm in the Sala Brunelli at the municipal building.
The event will open with remarks by Cristina Milani of the Legambiente Per il Garda association, followed by technical and outreach interventions. Speakers include biologist Daniele Zanini on water as a reservoir of biodiversity, Elena Ferrario on the role of lakes in tackling the climate crisis, and hydrologist Fabrizio Merati on the management of non-native species with a focus on the sheatfish (siluro). Additional talks cover eDNA-based monitoring techniques by hydrobiologist and ichthyologist Massimo Pascale, and water service management by Sonia Bozza of Acque Bresciane, with moderation by Beatrice Zanardo of Legambiente Lombardia.
