2026 Naval Drill in Desenzano Tests Joint Response and Rescue Operations

A naval exercise is scheduled for Wednesday, 15 July 2026 at 11:00 a.m. off Desenzano del Garda (BS), with the participation of the prefects of Brescia, Verona and Trento and multiple state and local agencies responsible for policing and rescue. The drill will focus on testing joint response capacity and standardising operating procedures.

The exercise will run through two scenarios—“Security” and “Search and Rescue”—including simulations of a policing operation and a rescue intervention. The Basin Authority for Lakes (Autorità di Bacino Laghi) will support the activity, while the Guardia di Finanza will set up an institutional speaking point to provide real-time updates on the maneuvers carried out by the naval crews. The exercise is also intended to refine procedures to be replicated during the 2026 summer season.
