Crane Collapse on the Gardesana in Salò Triggers Alternating One-Way Traffic
A crane collapsed on the Gardesana state road at around 6:00 this morning after strong gusts of wind, forcing a temporary halt to traffic until service was restored at about 9:00. The road was reopened with one-way traffic, managed through alternating one-way control near the 45 bis junction, following the incident near the traffic lights.
The crane, set up for work at a construction site for a private home upstream of the road, fell onto the roadway and blocked vehicles. Concrete counterweights also dropped onto the sidewalk, while the impact damaged the roofs of a small church upstream of the signal and a house downstream. Long queues formed on the stretch between Salò and Toscolano, and checks are ongoing regarding a possible gas leak.
