Wind Brings Down Gardone Cable Car, Road Closed as Repairs Continue

A crane that collapsed in Gardone due to strong wind gusts led to the closure of the SS Gardesana at around 6:00 a.m. The structure, installed at a private construction site above the road, fell near the traffic-light system, with the metal span landing on the roadway and the concrete counterweights on the sidewalk. Traffic was only partially restored around 9:00 a.m. on the 45 bis route using alternating one-way traffic.

Throughout the day, firefighters, local police, and crews worked to remove the crane and restore safety conditions. The road reopened in both directions at about 4:20 p.m. Work is still ongoing: Acque Bresciane is handling repairs to an affected water pipeline, while gas technicians are addressing leaks caused by the collapse.
