Mayor Calls It Unacceptable as City Leaves Residents Without a Family Doctor From August 1

From August 1, Affi will no longer have a general practitioner (GP) on site. Dr. Dashtipour Mazeyar, currently serving in a temporary role, will leave to move to Malcesine, and no replacement has been identified despite repeated requests to ULSS 9 Scaligera.

Mayor Marco Sega called the situation “unacceptable,” saying the community—about 350 elderly and vulnerable residents—will be left without a minimum healthcare service. He said the municipality has been receiving daily calls from citizens, especially seniors, asking what they should do from August 1, adding that it is not appropriate to direct them to doctors in other towns without guarantees.

The administration has asked the Veneto Region for an urgent intervention, noting the issue has been known for some time. ULSS 9 has confirmed that administrative procedures have been started, but with no certain outcome; Sega also said the municipality is willing to use its own funds to ensure continuity of care so the burden does not fall again on residents.
